AFI defined their legend in the early 2000's with the punk/rock masterpieces Black Sails in the Sunset, The Art of Drowning and Sing the Sorrow. Since then they've been evolving toward a Depeche Mode/The Cure sound that just doesn't resonate with me. Every release, I wait for a return to the hard-hitting days. Maybe this album will deliver some of that, but after two songs, it doesn't appear to be a departure from recent releases. The Smashing Pumpkins delivered a rocking album, Aghori Mhori Mei, as a return to their roots, and I challenge AFI to contemplate their own journey back in the future. I'll always support AFI because I respect their talent and am grateful for the joy they've given me, but I'm ready to rock with them again.

I am a longtime fan and love that they are always and growing their sound but still also sound uniquely AFI! I think you need to listen to the songs, hear the lyrics and then go see them live! Such a fantastic band! Can’t wait to hear the album in it entirety!

My favorite AFI album is The Art of Drowning, and they sound so different from that album now. They’re a moody, gothic post-punk band now, not the high energy horror punk band I know and love. Maybe the album will actually be really good, but I’m not convinced on that

Always been a fan and this first song is dark, gothic and beautifully haunting. Can’t wait for the rest of the album and tour
