Jimi Would be Proud

Hendrix loved jazz and was very open-minded about music. He would've loved this disk which treats his music with respect and admiration, It's sad that some (very few, I think) Hendrix's fans don't see the beauty and sophistication in his music. They treat him like some stoner relic, and not an inventive music who listened to many types of music without prejudice.

The other reviews of this excellent record make me doubt whether they actually listened to some of the songs before making up their judgmental descisions. This is exactly what a tribute record or cover record should be. The recreation of one excellent musicians work. It should never be played like a copycat version of the original auteur. The talent lies in the musicians ability to make a song heard many times over by one artist, whole and new again. Geri Allen accomplished this for me with just the first track and by the time the second track came around, I was excited to hear what the next song would sound like. This is dedicated because Hendrix was all about not being a copycat performer and making the music your own.
Muzak version of Jimi Hendrix greatest hits.
