While this is not necessarily a new album, fans of the original HTDAAB will appreciate. While this might not reach the heights of War, The Joshua Tree, or Achtung Baby ( their last stellar album in my humble opinion ) , it still rocks. In honest opinion, probably the last great rock record they made in the last 20 years. Not a bad song on here. The bonus tracks are excellent and demonstrate the potential of this great band and have me longing for another great rock record from U2.

Nice to have theses leftover tracks. Great songs. Some people complain that U2 is releasing this stuff. I wonder if they realize that they actually don’t have to buy it. Some people hate a band simply because they can pack stadiums.

Different from the tunes in the original album, they don’t belong in that bunch , but they are great tracks, almost instantaneously memorable ( it took 2 or 3 plays) are , Treason, Evidence of Life, Luckiest Man In The World,Are You Gonna Wait Forever,Happiness and Picture of You. Theme from “The Batman” it’s a great instrumental.

Not using this version instead of the version on the original album is maybe the greatest mistake they’ve made after the “Songs Of Surrender” album. THAT PRE CHORUS! “ “I hear you say, "My, oh my You know I got no tears to cry And I got no love left in me now Just salt in my eye" To me this song begs the question: Could it be that the original album turned into something so much weaker than what it could have been? I thought Native Son and Xanax and this one were much stronger than anything they settled for on HTDAAB. Even Alternate “Yahweh” had more darkness and power than the album version.
  • Not bad, but…

I love U2. I bought How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb when it was released in 2004. I bought this 2024 remaster edition. I appreciate the extra unreleased tracks, many of which are good, which justified my purchase. But I, along with many other fans, would love a brand new album — not a collection of reissues and remixes.

There's a reason these songs were left off the original album. In fact, the last three songs of the original album should have been left off the original album. Fast Cars is probably the only song that should have been on the original release. When an artist runs out of new ideas, they do what U2 have been doing for the past several years.
  • The Shadow Album/HTRAAB is Terrific

First, the big question: Is it worthwhile? Answer: Yep, it sure is. Some of these new songs really SHOULD have been on the original album. Evidence of Life is fantastic—a hard-driving, guitar-heavy, post-punk type track that musically sounds like it could have been on U2’s Boy, October or even the B-side of War. Happiness has the Edge’s best guitar solo in decades. And both Luckiest Man in the World and Country Mile easily could have been singles. For those who prefer U2 and when they’re more experimental & not going for hits, then Treason and Picture of You (X + W) are fun tracks. Nice return to form by U2.
