If you like good swinging salsa, then check out the group LA TROPICA. I tunes posted the 2nd of their two recordings. "Tropical Moods". This where Gilberto's musical director, Tommy Villariny, began his career. The albums were recorded and released by COMBO RECORDS when TOMMY VILLARINY (Gilberto Santa Rosa) & EDGARD NEVAREZ (Rafy Leavitt- Tommy Olivencia) graduated from The Berkeley School of Music in Boston. Since then they were dubbed the "BERKELEY BOYS". You can here the swinging sounds of Gilberto Santa Rosa & a bit of El Gran Combo here. Tommy went on to direct and arrange Gilberto's first four solo recordings for COMBO RECORDS. Songs like "Cantante De Cartel", "Tu", "Sin Un Amor", "Tengo Una Muneca". Check those out too!!!
