Oddly enough I have my local PBS station to thank for this purchase. They were doing a special on Afro-Cuban music and the path led to a great interview with Carlos Santana who was talking about their appearance at Woodstock (with Carlos tripping balls on LSD, no less). That led me to look for a recording of their ‘68 show, which in turn led me to the Filmore recording.
Good. God. I’m going to donate to PBS now!
Excellent musicianship all round and, if you like the blues soaked sounds of The Allman Brothers, Hendrix, and Stevie Ray Vaughn, do yourself a favour and buy this record.
Great, best Santana

I wish there were more live recordings like this one! It rocks! Raw, edgy, yet smooth as same time, the organ is fantastic.
Great Album...

… at a horrible price. Save some dough & buy it from the company named for a major South American river. Or iTunes could show some decency and drop their price. Don’t hold your breath for that, though.
I'm floating

Well what can I say really, This is a fine fine recording of live Santana, early live Santana I might add... You can just hear the ambition & love for the music being played hear with of course Carlos taking lead... This is a must have for any Santana fan hands down! The extended jams on these songs alone are worth every penny for this release.... Get it & don't even second guess yourself... you won't regret it & that is the truth!

Wow! Up there with the Who live at Leeds and Allman Bros at Fillmore. Outstanding.
Best Live Album Ever?

This is maybe the best live record out there. YEE GODS!
These sets are littered with hypnotic rhythms, like the Platonic ideal of what "drums" are. I have to gush a bit, because it is so good with Carlos laying his magic on top of all of that.
When this first came out in the late 90's I thought it might be better than even the Allman Brothers Fillmore Concerts, which was greeted as heresy at the time. I think i still side with Santana because it is more elemental & rhtythmic. In fact, I am going to put it on right now....

I have always loved Santana, but this CD takes Santana to a whole new level that words cannot explain, you'll just have to listen for yourself. They put their heart and souls into making this music (seriously) The guitar along with conga drums is unparalleled. This album is great and i would do anything to have lived in that generation!
