  • The Greatest Live Blues-Rock Album!

I always loved this album. Still have a good vinyl copy and I have the CD. Bloomfield's playing is magnificent. Kooper is great on organ. Singing is good. Elvin Bishop and Carlos Santana guest on one song each. I would rate it five stars but I guess judging from the reviews the downloads are messed up. Stream it on spotify or buy the CD and put it on your stereo and turn it up. Forget the earbuds! Out of my collection of over thousands of cds and vinyl and downloads, it is in my top ten! The two "Album only" songs didn't download though the button on the right hand side has changed from "Play" to "Purchased". Otherwise a good album.

Is Carlos Santana playing on "Sonny Boy Williamson" with Al Kooper and Mike Bloomfield? I've been wondering, since that song is on his Collaborations section of his "World Of".

This is the best live album I know; right up there with the Allman Brothers. I wore out three copies on vinyl, two cassettes and listen to cuts from the CD every day. It is continually fresh. Mike Bloomfield is at his best Kooper is excellent. Elvin Bishop, Carlos Santana show up. Wow!!

The one star rating is for the itunes store. The album is five stars but Dear Mr. Fantasy will not download. Do not spend your money until Apple has fixed this problem.
  • DOES ANYONE AT ITUNES ACTUALLY READ THESE REVIEWS

This is a great album and I nearly bought the whoe thing instead of several cust. But the eight minute silence of "Dear Mr. Fantasy/ Hey Jude" is inexecusable considering it has been posted for months. I check back every few weeks but it still has not been corrected as of 10/8/08. Surely someone ought to read these and take action. I pity anyone who bought this great cut and got nothing. I hope they at least got a credit for non-delivery. Please please read these reviews and take corrective action.

I figured that the earlier written reviews/warnings of "Dear Mr Fantasy/Hey Jude" had to have been read by someone at iTunes by today (08-26-08) and the condition corrected. Foolish me. Though I may be luckier than them in that they reported 8 minutes and 4 seconds of total silence but I received 10 seconds of the song's intro before being treated to only 7 minutes and 54 seconds of silence. Maybe that's it. Maybe the correct title of what the band played is "The Sounds Of Silence" and it's only a matter of track 13 being mislabled. (A joke. But now that I'm reading it it's not funny.) The album is a wonderful slice of the late 60's brought to you by a couple of geniuses. I would not buy the album but I would by the individual tracks and skip #'s 1, 10 and 13 in addition to the "album only" tracks.
