  • An absolute banger

I totally missed this album when it released, now I realize it’s what I had been missing. If you enjoyed Mellon Collie, Adore & Machina, and especially if you’ve seen the Pumpkins live, you’ll love this album. It’s an incredible journey of the past and all the roads the band travelled down in between. It’s a long haul and you have to be open to just letting the album play out. If you’re someone that expects a band to release the same old music that made you feel a certain way long ago, then it isn’t for you. Everything changes, everything grows, and this album is a perfect example of how broad a range this band can reach.

Very long, but a masterpiece in its own right. I believe this album exemplifies the multifaceted sonic landscape of the pumpkins. Although I can’t stand “hooray”, I’m still giving it a perfect five.
  • A couple decent songs

There are a couple songs I've found somewhat replayable, but of all the changes that have happened to the Pumpkins over the years, the change to Billy's vocal style is the hardest hurdle to overcome, as a listener. And they're a long way from the lyrics that used to impact me so profoundly. Mellon Collie was pure poetry, but the lyrics of ATUM often have me cringing. I have to admire their persistence, though.

Been listening to TSP since I was 15. 30 years later, he still can't be beat. Amazing album! Some similarites with Adore, which is my favorite album, so I am super stoked.

Really enjoyed some interesting and mature lyrics. Nothing else to compare out there. Unless, you just love Olivia Rodrigues music and lyrics . Nah.
  • This is great

I didn’t care for CYR. I’ve been listening to them since Gish. This is great.

This is meant to be consumed with the needle dropping on ATUM and play all the way through. Some very different sounds and songs but they all have meaning and purpose. A few heaters along the way. Empires is a banger. (Even better live btw) beguiled and Spellbinding also hit hard. Overall a strong album for the open minded fan. I love it.
  • Great but not epic

Decent album. Stand out tracks in my humble opinion are: Beyond The Vail, Empires, Beguiled , Spellbinding, The Good In Goodbye, Hooligan, Steps In Time, Avalanche, Moss, That Which Animates, In Lieu of Failure, Harmageddon, and Fireflies.

This is really solid music. My favorite release they have done since Mellon Collie for sure. It’s not a SP tribute album; Billy has pushed the envelope of what they can be. You can’t listen to it with 1994 ears, you have to embrace it today, and tomorrow. Billy has definitely found a way to look forward while giving a nod to the past instead of settling on an either/or scenario. Its fresh. Its stripped down, yet so rich and complex. Soaring moments too. Much less pretense, much less “I am a musical genius and demand you to like these songs”, and more “I have written a good batch of songs and would like to invite you to enjoy them if you like.” There are some incredible moments and hooks. I anticipate listening to this album a year from now and finding new gems that catch my ear.
