This is not written for movie fans...this is a real modern concert piece. But it is of the substance of a Stravinsky or a Berg concerto (though Williams would be the last to claim it). But listening to his 1st violin concerto (Shaham) and his cello concerto (Ma), Williams is a composer of tremendous skill and craftsmanship. The orchestration is the only real common ground with his film work. He may be the ultimate modern orchestrator...brilliant. What Harrison Ford recently said about him is a true picture of the man. We are lucky to live in his time.
