I'm willing to go out on a limb and say that Chet Baker, while not as dynamic a trumpeter as Miles Davis, is among the top five trumpet players in jazz history and present. When describing what I like about Baker to people, I always tell them that he plays with his soul-- you can really hear it on this collection of songs. This album boasts the hands-down best version of No Problem I've ever heard. Kiss of Spain is another amazing treat too, the opening is brilliant with the bass played like a cello. To be honest, this album is one of my favorite, jazz or not; it is simple and subtle. Baker and Jordan are and absolutely lovely match here, kinda makes me wish they made another album... maybe that's why this one is so special.
