This album is incredibly detailed, heavy, and atmospheric while never forgetting, that at its core, is a somewhat straight up rock record. The core dissonance of converge is still here, albeit sprinkled all over the record in spares to really intensify the music when it needs it most. This album has heavy bangers, more meditative doom tracks, and honestly, an incredibly catchy, and infectiously mystic, vocal part on Crimson Stone’s climax, perhaps my favorite section of the entire album. 30 years into converge’s career, it’s amazing how incredibly new this sounds for them whilst showing off their guns as well.
