Reviews

  • Fantastic sounds from the 60’s

Only a child when I first heard this album & as I got a little older it left an impression. Still lovin these sounds. PLEASE, iTunes, give us at least the most popular tunes of this (& a few others of his albums)to choose as some ringtones & text-tones! (Minus one star because, as another commented, the sound quality is not as it should be).
  • Great Sound, Great Album

This is the ultimate album for Herb & the TJB. And despite the nonsensical rant of sauntering 81 the sound of this album is impeccable. The songs, of course, are all food titles, and cleverly arranged by Alpert. There was no actual Tijuana Brass at this time. The music was played by members of the Wrecking Crew. This album still sounds fresh and lively today. Perfect place to start if you've wanted to start listening to the TJB.
  • Apple Music Strikes Again

I like Herb Alpert. He is a legend. Unfortunately the volume level of this album purchased through the ITunes Store is quiet low compared to mp3s played on Sony NW Walkmans or the vynyl/CD. This is not a Herb Alpert problem. This is an Apple Music problem. Apple seems to acknowledge that some tracks/albums purchased in the ITunes Store isn’t right, as well. How? Apple will allow IPhone users to adjust the volume level on individual tracks/albums purchased via ITunes Store ONLY AFTER a subscription to APPLE Music is obtained. Basically, you are wasting your money buying this album on the ITunes Store...unless you really like cranking up the volume of your stereo to hear it. If you absolutely must have this album in your collection, the cheapest route for best quality and proper volume level is with a CD and CD player.

This album takes me back to my childhood (grade school) . My mom bought this classic when it was released and it inspired me to learn the trumpet! Lots of band fun from grade school through high school! Still a Herb Alpert fan!

This album gives me a sense of joy due to the memories I have when I found it on 8Track and not knowing what it was and soon after my grandfather telling me about this album that he was unaware I had shortly before bought. Its a funny story to tell when in person and I’m willing to spare more details. Since then I’ve collected it on multiple formats except at the time of this writing, cassette. My favorite tracks are Whipped Cream and Love Potion No. 9
