Highly Disappointing

I have everything Jacob ever did. And I eagerly awaited the release of this. Highly disappointed. I understand as an artist he needed to expand his horizons - and this is the third installment of him doing that. I truly appreciate his genius and respect his need to create probably outweighing his need to sell music. But his need to blaze new trails took him off the road. I sampled all the tracks, and have zero desire to buy any of them. Maybe Djesse 4 willbring him back.
Why is this in the Jazz section?

Jacob told us this album would sound far from normal...in his words, every wild thought that crosses your path in a dream. I think he fulfilled that well. It’s is quite apparent now, especially if you’ve listened to him before, that Jacob doesn’t just make songs. He creates landscapes of sound, each harboring a different emotional atmosphere. “Butterflies”, “To Sleep”, “he won’t hold you”, “in my bones”, “in too deep”, and “sleeping on my dreams”, for example, all sound like crazy thoughts or dreams, but they’re soundscapes are quite different for each of them. I think from that perspective, not mentioning his absurd musical talent, this was a tremendous album.
The Best!

After hearing the inspiration for Djesse project, this album is everything he said it would be and more.

He was right when he said it was weird. Looking forward to how this chapter transitions to Vol 4.
Third times a flop.

His first three albums were fantastic... You cannot expect everything to be a hit and that’s very true with this fourth outing. The best word I could use to describe this album is that it’s “muddled”. A muffled, over manipulated, and strained piece of work. I wish Jacob would show us something new this time around because he obviously has the tools. The one positive thing I could say about this album is that it is a departure from his well liked jazz/ indie style. And I appreciate risks even if they don’t pay off.
Next level!!!!

Been following Jacob from the beginning... incredible to see where his talent and musicianship has taken him. Vol 3 is on another level of epicness! The collaborations are as tasteful as they are eclectic. He’s stepping up as a producer who can work within all genres. Can’t wait to hear the conclusion of Djesse and listen to the work in its entirety! This project will go down in History.
Phenomenal

Imagine leaving a review of an album where you only project what YOU want from an artist and don't even review the music.
I love Jacob and support his exploration with genre and production, whether or not it aligns with my tastes and preferences.
Killer music and production on this, JC!
