Blood on the Road

I went to see Jason and the band live in Evergreen CO, all I can say is WOW! I cannot believe how he makes that little six inch harp sing and sing! The guitarist, Shawn was also fabulous...buy their music you won't be disappointed. Great energy and creativity.

Jason Ricci & New Blood is a band that sticks with you...I had the pleasure of seeing them live at Terra Blues in NYC and it was a show I will never forget! Needless to say, JR is a master on the harp, however, the performances by all of the band members are memorable...especially the bassist "Buck Weed". The CD is great...the live performance is unmatched.

These guys are amazing, how could you not like a band that is as passionate as these guys are! They have a new CD coming out soon, so show your support and buy one or five!

Last night I was privileged to be part of an audience in a Westbrook, Maine diner to hear Jason Ricci and his band blow away the entire room. I've got all the tunes by Sonny Boy and all the rest, and this guy is the real thing. And I think he's even better. This album captures it all. Wanna know how great a harp can sound? Buy this one.

The first time I heard Ricci play it was at small bar in Camden, SC. It was truly amazing. Listening to him play was like hearing Stevie Ray Vaughn for the first time, and he is equally talented, 'cept on a harmonica instead. But it's more than just Ricci's talent. He's backed by a great, tight band the members of which are tuned in with each other. Each knows where the other's going when they're playing, and they anticipate each other's moves. Truly a great band, especially live.

Although this music is heavy on the harmonica, Jason and his band are anything but a blues band. They play jazz, funk, and most importantly ROCK, all influenced by the blues, and many of these songs can't easily be pinned as just one of those genres. Though you won't hear it so much on the album, these guys also jam like crazy and play ridiculously awesome live shows.

Jason Ricci is truly an amazing guy. His combination of rythms and melodys will keep you guessing to the very end. Good music to listen to whenever, in the car, at home, doing work its all good. If you love the harmonica (or even if you don't) this is an absolute MUST!
