Every time I think they’ve done the most incredible thing ever, their next album blows it out of the water. The complexity of each song is incredible, there’s an insane number of layers, rhythms, and textures within the instrumentation and vocals. Also, the clarity of Josh’s high register in this album....let’s just say he’s only getting better with age!!

I’ve been listening to Marianas Trench and following them for years now and every album somehow is just as incredible as the last. They somehow always seem to make albums that are so distinctly them, and yet completely different thematically and stylistically from the previous album. Absolutely incredible talents.

They never disappoint, this album has a lot of intricate vocals and instrumentals. It's like listening to a movie. The songs connect to eachother in some sort of way, and similar to "Ever After" there is a finnale at the end that alludes to the other songs. Excelent work, guys!

Heart warming, heart wrenching, melodies and harmonies that can never be unheard. Things I didn’t know I needed to hear and now can never live without. Thanks, guys. This is perfect.

They continue to baffle me with the music they produce. While they are edging more mainstream, they maintain their strong concept albums and display of instrumental talent. As well as Josh Ramsey belting and reaching vocal levels few can achieve.

This album is the most amazing album in music history! I 💯 recommend this album to everyone. Every song is so amazing and totally a bop as usual❤️ Have it on repeat since the release of the album I pre-ordered & purchased a signed copy from the bands record label 604Records as well as the new signed photo to go with it😍

So before a bunch of Trenchers start calling me a "hater", "loser" or whatever: I am a huge fan. I consider Masterpiece Theatre, Ever After and Astoria brilliant, five-star albums. I live in Europe and have bought an airline ticket to Canada so I can see the band in Montreal in two weeks. Maybe that's why I am so disappointed with Phantoms. The album panders to top-40 radio sentiments in the most annoying way. MT have gone from a band crafting music with their instruments to the business of designing formula pop in Pro Tools. Case in point: the incessant filter sweeps. What can be a fun effect every once in a while here becomes an overused gimmick, exasperating for the ear. Next: Josh is a great singer who clearly has been taking more lessons (both for his vocal chords and his auto-tune skills). But man, give the music some space to breathe! Almost every song features way too much singing. Case in point: Only The Lonely Survive, one of the better numbers - 14 seconds intro and then not a single bar without Josh rapid-firing stammered syllables or belting it out like the diva we all love. But much of it is deprived of its impact because the man just won't ever give it a break. It's even worse in the second half of The Killing Kind where the poor orchestra becomes just a backdrop to his endless babbling of how the bottle loves him. Other points of criticism: Not enough guitars (Josh is an avid collector!), computer drums when you have Ian Casselman, and some really sub-standard songwriting. Low point is Echoes Of You which sounds like a David Guetta b-side. And it's better to stay away from Edgar Allan Poe unless you're Nick Cave or Jeff Buckley ;-)
