  • Just a good way to remember Guy

I am a Steve Earle fan, have most everything he has available to listen to. Guy is by far my favorite artist and songwriter. Very few writers can tell stories like Guy in a short song. Steve captures the spirit of Guy like only a fellow Texan can appreciate. There are so many songs and stories Guy told, Steve’s voice brings those stories to life! Great listening to them!

I have nearly everything Steve has released. I'm not a fan of an entire album of melancholy ballads. I wish Steve would return to some of his uptempo story/song writing. I'm passing on this one.

These songs are really well chosen and realized, but I’ve got one quibble, and it’s a big one. Mr. Earle’s singing has always been somewhat mannered and self conscious. On his own songs, it’s one thing — something to be forgiven and even viewed with some affection — it’s just Steve sounding like Steve. However, with a songwriter the caliber of Guy Clark, it is imperative for the interpreter to articulate the goddamned language. Mr. Earle’s self conscious swallowing of these words is unacceptable. If he reveres this man’s work as much as he claims, then he should have had enough respect to sing these words with enough articulation so they can be understood. This is simple ego. Get over yourself and sing the goddamned songs, Steve. Believe me, they — and you — are superior enough to come across.

I so love this tribute to Guy Clark. Steve Earle and his band knock it out of the park on every level!! It’s a gem and one that will be in heavy rotation for a while to come! Thanks, Steve!!

I like Steve Earle's music and I like Guy Clark's music. Some of Guy's songwriting seem perfect for Stever Earle. Almost like he wrote the songs just for Earle to sing. Great idea for an album Steve.

When everyone is focused on finding authentic these days their a forgetting where to look because all you had to to was find Steve Earl. I think, for whatever it worth, that its really really good music. I am just an average girl ( well older than girl) who grew up on hardcore country and appreciates your music. I hope your blessed with the happiness and luck.
  • Dublin Blues

Steve Earle is an absolute legend and deserves a spot among Clark, Walker, Townes and the rest. His cover of Dublin Blues is the absolute best and pay homage with not only his gravely vocals, but brilliantly lonesome instrumentals with the steel and fiddle. Truly great and a great way to pay homage. Way to go Steve.
