My review isn’t based on the album itself. I don’t consider myself a U2 fan personally but I’m sure it’s fine if you are one. No, my review is mainly based off the absolutely ludicrous deal U2 made with Apple in regards to this album. A while back, Apple and U2 made some kind of deal where Apple would sponsor U2 and in turn, U2 would release their album Songs of Innocence for free to all users. Sure, it sounds like an insanely generous offer to do that, but there’s a catch: the album is automatically downloaded into your library without opting in. Apple and U2 basically went behind the backs of millions of Apple users and downloaded it onto whatever platform you were using, removing any choice of actually wanting it. Now you’ll probably see this and go “well if you don’t like it, just delete it. Simple as that, idiot.” Yeah, it should be that simple, but it isn’t. You see, this album has a funny little quirk where even when you delete it, Apple decides “no, screw you” and redownloads it anyways. Never before have I owned songs that I’ve deleted off my library, only for them to come back. I’ve deleted this album dozens of times at this point, yet EVERY time it worms it’s way back into my phone. It’s gone from annoying to downright infuriating, especially since a lot of the methods used to actually remove it are outdated or flat out don’t work. I don’t like this album’s music. I never have and I never will, but Apple and U2 seem insistent that I keep it on my phone, no matter how many times I delete it. I should not be forced to have an album on my phone that I did not opt into nor want. It’s absolutely infuriating and U2 should be ashamed of themselves for doing this.

I don’t have it downloaded anymore but I remember receiving this around 2014 and playing it on repeat. This album has been apart of my childhood for so long and has gave me so many good memories. I recommend listening to it :)

This album is terrible and iTunes continues to download it to iTunes even after it was deleted from library.

Literally the other version of this album was forced and has not been easy to delete. Of all the things to remaster...

i was working on my music on my ipad, and the only music i had to listen to was my own, ispy by kyle, and this album. so naturally i ended up listening to it, even though i had never listened to u2 before, and i absolutely loved it. i have no idea why this album is as slept on as it is, but it shouldn’t be.
