It’s Has It’s Ups And Downs It’s Ups Are The Guitar Quality’s Are Great And The Art Work Is Good The Downs Are The Songs Aren’t That Upbeat And They’re Not Very Danceable Though The Strings Are Good On One Of The Songs

If you like this album go get some help, even kiss themselves hate this album. It’s not kiss anymore, it’s just a mess.

Perhaps there’s not much crossover between fans of KISS and Prog rock, but for those of us who do enjoy both, this is fantastic.
  • Kiss? Is that you?

I too used to kinda like this album. When it first came out, I had it on 8-track (which totally sucked)! But still, some of the songs had a hint of Kiss of old. Ace Frehley’s “hard times” being one of them. Others have nice catchy riffs, but the singing and production turn me off and continued to turn classic Kiss fans farther off even faster. With the departure of Peter Criss and the ongoing health issues with Frehley, KISS purist started seeing the cracks and it was obvious the end wasn’t too far off.

This is a masterpiece and is so under rated. They themselves can negate the album though one of the most creative albums that they made.

I’d give it 4.5 stars, or 9/10, but it’d be good perfect if it weren’t for 1 thing: Paul’s falsetto voice on Just a Boy and The Oath. It ruins those songs for me. Still a masterpiece of an album, and something incredibly unique. Doesn’t deserve the overwhelming hate the general public gives it.

This was a high risk album to make. It challenged the band to rise above their previous albums. This album to me is magic. It’s a musical journey of obstacles and rising above it them. Love the variety of sounds and songwriting

Once upon a time I used to like this album but alas I do not any longer. Before I get flamed for stating my opinion & the trolls attack, let me reassert that I indeed used to like this album. It’s different but very unKisslike, so I more than understand if this is not your cup of tea. The story behind this is that this was Gene & Paul’s pet project but the rest of the band didn’t care for it & that lack of enthusiasm does show in spots sad to say. As a matter of fact I taught myself to like this at the time & it’s been years since I last listened to it, but upon revisiting this I found that my tastes have changed & I just don’t like this anymore. I found it didn’t sound half as good as I remembered it but hey it happens. But if this is still your thing hey more power to ya, so enjoy.

I love when bands decide to do something different. Doesn't mean I want it all the time but it's nice to see a band challenge themselves.
