  • Goodnight Tonight is really a Wings song, not McCartney solo

"Goodnight Tonight" was recorded by Paul McCartney with Wings while making Pau's previous album Back to the Egg (his last one with Wings). It was a non-album single released shortly before Back to the Egg. But for some reason, the 1993 re-issue of McCartney II included "Goodnight Tonight" (a Wings song) as one of its bonus tracks. If the Archive Collection of Back to the Egg ever comes out, it should have "Goodnight Tonight" on it for the expanded edition with the bonus tracks. These newer Archive Collection releases have been better at putting Paul's non-album singles as bonus tracks to the correpsonding albums than the 1993 re-issues were. Don't get me started on those 1993 re-issues! As for the McCartney II album itself, I enjoy it. This album is half-baked in many ways, but that just adds to its ramshackle charm. Might not be for everyone, though.

It’s one of my favorite songs off this album. It should be here but curiously it’s not. Especially since this is a “Deluxe” version with extra content & it’s still been omitted. Any explanation of its absence?
