Rainbow Rising is arguably top 10 rock albums of all time. With RJD’s vocals and Blackmores guitar work as well as the transitions and SUPER talented band mates including the GREAT Cozy Powell on drums a d Don Airy on keyboards who happened to light the keyboards on fire in this album, AND ex-DP bassist Roger Glover??? This was an all-star world class talented band. The riffs are brilliant, sometimes easy but usually complicated and intense, and dudes...Dio wailing like the GREATEST rock singer of all time? This is a MUST listen to and a MUST OWN album. You will not be disappointed with this album. Drops mic.

Any album with one is of the best songs every written, Stargazer, immediately gets 4 stars, and with a light in the black after 5. But Tarot Woman and Starstruck secure this album as an easy 5 star, great album.

This album is without a doubt Rainbow's best. All songs are just right on the target. Obviously Stargazer is such an epic song it is beyond best. To put it short, after this album there was no other way to go but down, so for any hard rock fan this album is a must have.

Rising is often a heavy rock fan's default "best" Rainbow album, but in all honesty it's 34 minutes of music, half of which (2 songs) are stunning but made up of 4 songs of pure filler. 4 stars for side 2 (Stargazer and Light In The Black). Forget the rest.

Stargazer is one of the best early-metal songs out there.
