A Welcome Change of Style

Vide Noir breaks in many ways from the sound of previous records by Lord Huron. Left in its place is a sprawling variety of songs, from slow and cosmically lovesick songs (Wait by the River, When the Night is Over) to fast-paced and rumbling pieces evoking classic rock and vintage sci-fi (Never Ever, Ancient Names Pts. I and II) to a few songs which are more reminiscent of their folk roots (Lost in Time and Space, Back From the Edge), and many somewhere in between.
Every song on Vide Noir is emotional and richly textured, and all of them are connected to each other and to Strange Trails by some overarching narrative. While everyone will have their preferences, not a single song disappoints. It’s worth listening to Vide Noir in full at least once; I recommend streaming it online and purchasing any songs that catch your eye. The important thing is to settle in and come along for the ride, and let Lord Huron’s music take you on a journey.
A discovery of imagination

I stumbled upon Lord Huron by accident and was immediately intrigued by his voice. The lyrics are one of a kind, mystical, haunting and beautiful. The excitement I feel discovering new music is like opening a new book you know you are going to love, and that feeling of losing yourself a little in the story. That’s how I feel about music. That’s what this band makes me feel.

Get lost in Vide Noir

It’s rare these days to find album that every song is as good as the last. Lord Huron has successfully achieved this for a 3rd time with Vide Noir. Like the previous albums the theme of love and death are explored this time with the added elements of fate, fortune tellers, curses and the cosmos. This theme runs through all the songs tying them all together into a cohesive package that you can’t help but listen to over and over again. Let Vide Noir take you to a new place and enjoy the trip.
Beautiful melodies and thoughtful lyrics.

This is a slick album, and some of the songs on it are relaxing and great to study with. I really like, “When The Night Is Over”.

Amazing album beginning to end.
Tap along, sing along, smile along, get a little teary-eyed along.
Another great album by Lord Huron.

Lord Hurons music takes me to the deepest places in my mind. I can’t explain it but it always causes me to think (which I love) and has subsequently set the bar incredibly high in terms of music that I listen to. This album is absolutely no different, it is the soundtrack to late night drives and very early morning outings. Love Vide Noir, I had to have it on vinyl as well.
