Max Richter launches simple melodic themes and extends them to a degree reminiscent of Dennis Johnson's November--but with orchestration. Some passages bring to mind the lovliest choral work of Morton Feldman and Luigi Nono. One of the central melodies presents as a potential ear worm, but it gets woven into harmonies that eventually sublimate it.
