From FUN to fizzle

There are four very good Goldfrapp songs on Black Cherry. Distressingly, the rest is either forgettable filler or outright nauseating. The good tunes would have made for a fun EP. The rest make for a journey into boredom and sewage. Of the good tunes, I especially like 'Hairy Trees' and 'Strict Machine' (of course). The latter tune hints at the energetic brilliance of the followup album 'Supernature', which I love and suggest to one and all. The other two tunes I enjoy are 'Train' and 'Black Cherry'. Skip the rest. 'Twist' is particularly terrible. Clearly, this is an experimental album from a band duo in transition, with manically mixed results.
