Like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers?

Cat Power and Lana Del Rey have songs I like and both have their own style for sure. So, it's not clear to me why they would blatantly use a hook from a well known song like "Breakdown" by TPH. I bought this song and figured I would get into the lyrics and vocals but I pretty much just wanted to hear my Tom Petty playlist instead.
