listened to bob while sitting in the backseat of my dads car(s) while he blasted bob james, david sanborn, earl klugh etc back in the early 80s in hawaii. later on, in the late 80s early 90s, i eventually fell into hip hop, more specifically dj jazzy jeff and the fresh prince (because it was ‘not explicit’ and i was able to buy it at a young age) and realized later on in the 90s why i fell into hip hop. Bob james’ samples were subtly (at times) playing thru DJJ&TFP....nautilus, westchester lady, etc...i swear they dont make music THAT good anymore. His music inspired hip hop back in the days. now, its called rap and sounds like garbage.
