This album explores so many important topics and the lyrics are poetic and beautiful. The songs themselves offer a huge variety of sounds and style, and it’s just good music! Love all the female voices and guests, and the fact that the album can be such great listening *and* so deeply meaningful!
  • Too Much Truth

I just left the album’s release party at Gatsby’s Books in Long Beach, and didn’t have a lot of connection to Micah before the event, but I can say that I am extremely impressed by this album, but would give you a fair warning if you don’t want to explore the nuances of the injustices in our world and country. The truth, rings clear in this work from the depth of Micah’s heart and experiences that many in our country don’t like to hear. Songs like “Fan Club” hit hard at fans that liked his music until he started to write about the reality of being a young black male in a country that still doesn’t want to hear the cries of anything that threatens their place of power. The first three songs are hard hitting, but not without a Truth that reaches to the soul of every American willing to listen. Especially, White America. As that White American, I was brought into an experience that I know to be true, but have been privileged out of feeling the same pain. The album lyrically, as well as some soul searching beats, make this album one to own, listen to and contemplate. Thanks Micah Bournes for the experience.
