this albums puts a lot of other self-described rappers to shame. this is how you make a record. great beats, experimental but old-school. great lyrics, strong guest appearances. buy it on vinyl too

such a unique hip hop experience. i've had to have had this record for a few years now, and it was somehow one of my earliest exposures to rap music that i actually liked. (along with things like rjd2, doom and wu-tang. lucky, i know.) produced in an age just on the cusp of mtv wrapping the hip hop movement into its coils and desecrating it into the unholy genres of "mainstream/crunk/dirty south rap." i.e: mediocrity in every aspect. yeah remember fat joe? remember shwaze? lil jon? how 'bout lil scrappy? of course not. even "soulja boy" will soon fall to the same fate of middle/high school fickleness. but no, not this. this is what we can really call a classic. and exTREMELY experimental. so it's best if you're looking for something undeniably fresh in the rap scene. this ain't so standard by any means. truthfully, the whole thing is a psychedelic gem from top to bottom. just listen to what goes on during the volcano of a song aptly-titled "making planets"! the part leading up to mr. lif's annihilation of the english language is as intense as it is astounding. what a trip, man. but true, at points i'd turn my head and think, "wait, did he just say that? that was pretty cheesy." but edan redeems himself with precise lyricism on most of the album. and i absolutely love all the old rock samples. once again, a classic for the modern ages.
  • Edan's Best.

    By Tombom_52
This album is amazing. Edan's creative and often out of this world rapping really shines on this album. It's full of hits and anybody who's sick of that same old radio garbage will certainly love this album. Edan's rhyme's are usually vivid and extremely creative, especially on tracks such as Promised Land and Fumbling Over Words That Rhyme. His sampling skills shine on various tracks. This is such a great album.

i have not heard an album as original as this in a very long time. it has completely taken my breath away. its psychedelic beats keep it interesting while teasing the mind and eardrums. it is a must listen.

This is an absolutely amazing album. Edan is crisp and precise with his flow as always, but he's clearly evolved as an artist since Primitive Plus (a great album in its own right). A short and to the point album. Seriously vivid, imaginative stuff. Easily 5 stars.
  • Great album

While exploring new hip-hop grounds, Edan manages to stick to his battle-rap roots, which destroys any mainstream cookie cutter rap-r&b sellout collaboration with the likes Nelly Furtado, Aguilera, etc.. "The science of the two" features Edan rhyming over dope beats by J-Dilla, "Fumbling over words.." is a nice tribute to early Mc's. Although I prefer Cut chemist's remix of "Torture chamber", this version isn't half bad. Best track on the album by far is "Rock and Roll", a tasty rap-metal nugget that suits Edan's voice perfectly,rap-metal, a style that has seemingly come and gone, typically features horrible lyrical content(references: POD/Limp Bizkit etc.), Edan however puts down intellible verses paying homage dozens of early rock influencers(Zep, Hendrix, Sabbath), even citing such lesser-known groups as mods The Small Faces, showing Edan's true knowledge & appreciation of past musicians, all the while flowing like butter...

This is truly an inovation. Very creative beats. There is some naughty words however so I'm amazed that it wasn't slaped with a warning label.
