He is one of my favorite artists in my iTunes library! The spare music, the passion, and the life in his music speaks to my soul! AFTER PURCHASING his music (he deserves to be paid) you should also check out his extended video version of "In the Pines" (popularized by primarily Lead Belly and later by Kurt Cobain among many many others). In his Youtube video he introduces the song with a short statement about how he rewrote it and why. Amazing!

This marvelous release won the Grammy for best blues recording last year so I'm a bit amazed not to see any reviews! Fantastic Negrito is a staggeringly charismatic performer (look for some of his videos) and songwriter. It feels like a lifetime of anguish and passion is being alchemically transformed into great music here. What a great record!
