In an age of children idolizing overrated pop stars, we've all seen our favorite rock bands follow the trend in hopes of reaching new ears at the cost of retaining long-time fans. With their new single, "Pure Evil," Like A Storm beaks the mold in an uncommon, confident, and almost ballsy way that brings hope to the newest generation of Hard Rock. From albums "The Beginning of the End" to "Awaken the Fire," the New Zealand based quartet has shown drastic and creative improvements both vocally and instrumentally. That being said, the band has always been at their best when delivering emotional powerhouse tracks like "Hate Me," "Break Free," "Just Save Me," and the beautifully acoustic ballade "Ordinary," while the more cliche rockers like "Six Feet Under" and "Become the Enemy" fall slightly flatter. With the newest addition to their repertoire, the Brooks brothers swing full force with a powerful, heavier song that boasts a well-chosen subject. Do yourself a favor and listen to the full version. While the single version makes obvious cuts required for radio play, the extended instrumentals in the intro, outro and bridge add the full dramatic effect required to get the most out of the piece. In the very latter, the band manages to create a sense of wanting more, not unlike the bridge in "Hate Me" led by drummer Zach Wood. The track then wonderfully transitions to a well-placed, almost Middle Eastern influenced guitar solo before effectively closing out. "Pure Evil" is an extremely encouraging lead to the new material we will see from Like A Storm in the coming months, and I personally hope we see more songs conveying the power and emotion these up and coming rock stars are able to do so well.

This is my first review ever on here and I've been buying songs on iTunes for years. This single sounds so clean but still heavy. Hope the rest of their stuff is this good.
