Evie has such a clean voice. An album that suggests celebration, praise, and acknowledging God's love. awesome to sing along with. So glad she is finally on iTunes. Lovely.
  • Evie’s Definitive Classic

Most people would point to earlier albums like “Mirror” and “Gentle Moments” as the definitive album of Evie’s career and ministry, but “Never The Same” from 1979 showcases an artist at the top of her form. Every song in this collection is solid and delivered in a confident and joyful spirit that will draw the listener into their message and give a glimpse into Evie’s personal convictions. The albums kicks off with Evie’s personal testimony in music, “Live For Jesus.” This song was written especially for her by CCM pioneer, Nancy Honeytree. Next, Evie takes on the Jessy Dixon classic, “Hold On” before delivering (pun intended!) what would become the biggest song of her career, “Special Delivery” which was penned by Ron Harris who wrote much of the material from her 1977 masterpiece, “Mirror.” With this album, Evie’s new (in 1979) husband, Pelle Karlsson, takes over the producer’s chair and contributes some original songs of his own such as the title track, “Never The Same Again” as well as “Shine”, “At The River of Jordan” and the haunting “This Life.” Evie is one of the pioneer artists who helped shape and mold the sound of Contemporary Christian Music. Her music is the foundation on which artists like Amy Grant, Sandi Patti, Darlene Zschech and others have built over the last four decades. “Never The Same” is an excellent album that helped pave the way for CCM’s explosion in the mid ‘80s.
