A transcendent night

I was lucky enough to be at the Bowl the night this was recorded and it remains one of the most beautiful musical experiences I’ve had in a lifetime of concert going. The review says it all: gorgeous music reinterpreted by the artist with all the power, maturity, joy and sadness of forty more years of living. There were moments where I did forget to breathe, moments when you could feel the entire audience holding its breath, almost as if by doing so, we could make the evening somehow last forever. Van’s not just a musician, he’s a prophet, a shaman, a cranky truth seeker who never stops digging into the magic of music. Long may he wail.
