The Real Deal

If nothing else, just listen to the tone on this disc, of the guitar, bass and vocals. This is living history, the real blues that few ever reach. I don’t need the guests, but they do add color. All I need is the tone of a song like Whiskey, Beer & Wine to jumpstart my heart.
Better when aged

Better than ever

I don't know how he does it but Buddy Guy sounds as good as or better than he ever did. He shows here that he's comfortable with a variety of material, and every track is a winner. This is the best blues album I've heard in 2015.
Because it’s Buddy Guy

Buddy Guy is great. But don’t high rate this album just because it’s him. He should be thanking Billy Gibbons for the best cut on the record. Everything else is average or below for someone that should have some better songs in the pipeline.
Amazing

PEERLESS

There is simply no better living guitar player alive today. I have seen him in his club several times and he is peerless. Whether he is high or low on the register, he is an absolute master. And his voice, for man of nearly 80, is still supple and full of energy. And when he cranks it up, his fingers annihilate the frets like few others can do. He truly does go by feel. We are blessed to still have him playing and making music.
